Crossroads
IF YOU DON'T ADMIT TO WHO YOU AREN'T,
YOU CAN'T BECOME WHO YOU SHOULD BE
Moses admitted that he was “tongue-tied”
and had to rely on his kid brother, Gideon doubted his leadership
so much that he tested God twice with the “fleece”,
and Elisha had to receive the “mantle” without which
he would not feel empowered. Are you at a Crossroads in your
life? A wise General once said, “I have met the enemy,
and it is I”. The hardest shell to crack is our own armor.
As good as we may think we are, in God's eyes we’are not
there yet.
Pride keeps us from growing. It's a poison
that Samson, King Saul, Lot and many others drank too often
in their quest for more. It's in “being real” with
ourselves that we can begin to overcome ourselves. The greatest
threat you and I have is not external, it's internal. Why is
“Honor your Father and your Mother” included in
the 10 Commandments? It's not just to teach us to obey; it's
to teach us how to give honor away to others and to be comfortable
with it.
At a Crossroads? Your “stress”
is not the problem, it's a symptom; the root problem is a lack
of total trust in God. Why do we have so many spiritual “little
people” in Christendom? It's because anytime there's “friction”
many choose to “cut and run”; they refuse to deal
with it. George Foreman became the Heavyweight Boxing Champion
of the World, again, in his 40s, when he decided to take the
“blows”and show the world who he could be.
Who are we today, an eagle or a prairie
chicken? What do you think God would want us to be? Remember,
eagles soar and own the sky, and chickens peck and peck and
get nowhere. Isn't your destiny in God's hands? But it's up
to us whether we want our life to be disabled or enabled, destructed
or constructed. In everything we do or say or think, we are
building our life up or letting it down. Let's not hide away
the truth, let's build for a lifetime by trusting in God and
asking for counsel when we need it. Let's give away our faith
to others we meet. Let's honor ourselves by honoring others.
In doing so, although we suffer loss or feel “'up against
the wall”, our soul is not imprisoned, we are free and
slaves no more to our flesh. Only those who admit to who they
aren't, can truly grow to become who they ought to be. Let's
grow!
